Your Financial Future Deserves Personal Attention

I founded Planning With Christiaan with a simple mission: to provide independent, unbiased financial advice that puts my clients' interests first—always.

Christiaan has spent more than 26 years in the financial industry, always prioritizing his clients' needs. Having ridden the wave of numerous economic cycles, Christiaan understands the importance of protecting assets, especially nearing retirement. His early career was at Morgan Stanley, training in the World Trade Center, gaining invaluable insight into the workings of Wall Street. However, working for a large corporation didn't suit his belief that each client deserves personalized planning grounded in Christian values. He has contributed to the public sector by specializing in 403b retirement planning for teachers and TSP planning for federal employees. His extensive expertise in annuities and market logistics has further enhanced his service. He treats clients with honesty and fairness, tailoring each plan and strategy for their retirement goals. Being independent also has its perks, as he can choose products best suited for his clients without being pressured by any corporate interests.

True to his Dutch heritage, his name speaks for itself. He enjoys time with his family—his son Michael, daughter Madeleine, and wife Ronda—at their North Texas ranch, where they settled after moving from California 13 years ago.

Financial Planning Philosophy

01

Retirement Specialist

I'm legally and ethically bound to put your interests first. Every recommendation is made with your best interests in mind, not commissions or sales targets. This is more than a legal obligation—it's how I believe financial advice should always be delivered.

02

Independent Advice

As an independent advisor, I'm not tied to any financial institution or product provider. This freedom allows me to recommend solutions from the entire marketplace, ensuring you get what's truly best for your situation.

03

Comprehensive Planning

Your financial life is interconnected. Investment decisions affect taxes. Retirement planning impacts estate strategies. I look at your complete picture to ensure all pieces work together toward your goals.

04

Education & Transparency

I believe educated clients make better decisions. I'll explain recommendations in plain language, show you the reasoning behind strategies, and ensure you understand exactly how I'm compensated.

05

Long-Term Relationships

Financial planning isn't a one-time event—it's an ongoing relationship. I'm committed to being your trusted advisor through all of life's transitions, providing consistent guidance and support.

06

Evidence-Based Investing

I don't try to time markets or pick "winning" stocks. Instead, I rely on academic research and proven principles to build diversified portfolios designed to capture market returns while managing risk.

Who I Work With

I specialize in working with clients who value comprehensive financial planning and long-term relationships

Pre-Retirees & Retirees

Individuals within 10 years of retirement or recently retired who need comprehensive planning to ensure their retirement income lasts a lifetime.

Federal Employees

Federal employees who need guidance on their TSP, FEHB, and FEGLI and want help designing a retirement plan that truly makes sense for their goals.

Educators

Supporting teachers and administrators who need guidance with 403(b) contributions and a clear roadmap to retirement, including answers to questions about the Rule of 80, Rule of 90, and how their pension fits into their long-term plan.

Families

Families planning for multiple goals simultaneously—education funding, retirement, estate planning, and wealth transfer.

You Might Be a Good Fit If You:

  • Want a personal relationship with your advisor, not a rotating team
  • Value independent, unbiased advice over product sales
  • Appreciate education and want to understand your financial strategies
  • Are committed to working together long-term
Outside the Office

Beyond Financial Planning

Outside of guiding clients toward confident retirements, you'll find me on our North Texas ranch with my family. I'm happiest with a fishing pole in hand or cheering my daughter on at barrel races.

I believe in practicing what I preach. Just as I help clients plan for their futures, I maintain my own comprehensive financial plan and continue investing in my education and personal development.
